O hai,
Well, I just finished up drawing the turnarounds for the final design of the Banshee spacecraft, which I had mentioned in an earlier post. The design was still in the development stage at the time that I had posted the art for it.
And, as promised, I have here the final turnaround for that ship. I am glad to have finished it ahead of schedule and how the final design looks. It was pretty fun designing this and I cannot wait until I get to see the final 3D model for it. Should be fun :)
Ciao

This. Is. Simply. Beautiful
Nothing new so far, still working on the turnarounds for the ship and just been at home for the past few weeks. Could really use a change in scenery soon. Nonetheless, this is just an inspiration post and you're in for a treat
Enough said, this is just an amazing piece of work. You'll be dead on your tracks with it.
Enjoy, because I did

Open for business
Hey guys,
Happy to announce that commissions are now open. For now, I'll only take in seven commissions at a time, because I have commitments to other projects which have deadlines within the month, so please bear with me for the next couple of weeks. Now, most of you (especially those who are familiar with, and use DeviantART) are accustomed to fixated prices for particular types and, I guess, the amount of artwork (such as busts or lineart or cell-shaded etc.).
That's all well and good, as it is a plus for those with tight budgets. However, this is where it becomes a little different:
The way I work is that I treat you as my client, where there is a brief for me to follow and will keep communicating with you to ensure that the work is to your liking from start to finish. I don't have fixed rates, but I will give you a quote as to how much it may set you back, depending on the time I can spend on your request and how complex your request is. I try and work with most things and subject matters, but here's a couple of the things I can offer:
- Linearts (from busts to full body)
- Character and Vehicle Design
- Full-detail centrefold/cover pieces
For those who do know me as an artist, I specialise in traditional mediums such as coloured pencils and ink. I've got what I feel is a basic grasp of the digital medium, but I've used digital in my design works, so to be up to par with industry standards.
Commission Slots (these will be updated as they come):
1. -
2. -
3. -
4. -
5. -
6. -
7. -
Examples of my work can be seen in my DeviantART (schwarze1.deviantart.com) and some of the earlier posts in this blog. But other than that, that's all there is to it. For any further queries, or if you would like to get a quote, you can drop a line to my email (djgutierrez07@live.com)
Have a nice day

August Already?
Hey guys,
Time really flies when you get busy, but I can't believe it's August already. Moving right along, I'm just going to upload a couple of pieces of artwork that I have done for another client. This time, I've started off with designing one of the ships that they will model and use in their project. It's been given the green light for final design and turnarounds, so I've been at work with cleaning the lines up and giving it that edge that will make it stand out.
The design process was pretty straight forward, that the silhouette process wasn't really required, considering that they had a clear cut idea of what they had wanted in terms of shape and particular details on the vehicle. It's called the Banshee, so the design has to be fitting to the name. Nonetheless, here are the two concepts I had drawn up for them:
Still a few things here and there for the final design, because I am also getting it ready for producing turnarounds. I will upload them at a later date, once they're done.
Really kicking myself for not updating this as often. Keep on drawing, Ciao.

Establishing a Design Process
Hey guys,
Just thought I'd share with you what's been keeping me busy nowadays.
So I got this character design brief a couple weeks ago which had the premise of producing character designs for a modern rendition of classic 50s movie monsters that could be used in a fighting game. Though the brief and the scenario is fictitious, it does however, allow for the art that I produce be used in a multitude of situations:
1. Aspiring 3D modellers could, with permission, use the assets to produce models as well as riggers and animators to create the character from the final render and turnarounds.
2. Help build on my portfolio in terms of producing concept art and assets to suit a video game developers needs; and most importantly...
3. Help polish up on my design process
So this is how it's looking atm, working on silhouettes so that should the character be modelled, it will have that distinction that will set him apart from the other potential characters. I'm yet to hear feedback on the client before I can progress any further. Otherwise, I can just do more silhouette sketches of the other characters.
That's all for today, I'll get back to you when I can. Ciao
P.S. Do realise that I have implemented a logo instead of a watermark, so please respect the IP and rights to my artwork.

Busy Busy
Greetings,
Not only that, I will be graduating from that very course on Monday night, so it's going to be a momentous occasion for all of us, as we move on to do our own thing and pursue our own volition.
As for myself, I have taken the first step of being a freelance artist. I have accepted a commission where I am tasked to produce the character design (from concept to turnarounds) and the storyboard for a client that will be using it for their personal use in a project. I've currently completed all the character design work for this and will be prepping to get the storyboards underway in a week's time.
I've also implemented the use of a basic Wacom Bamboo tablet and Photoshop CS5 as a medium of art, besides my traditional blend of pencils, colour pencils and ink. I'll still be continuing to broaden my horizons in regards to my palette so keep your eyes peeled for future artworks.
That will be all for now, Ciao.

Pleasure doing business with you
Back again,
It really made my day yesterday when the band, "Aries", sent me an email with the digital version of their promotional flyer attached to it. It turned out rather nicely. Very simple and gives all the necessary details for their upcoming shows. I do appreciate Rob's (the one whom I corresponded with during this time) punctual response and I do hope to do further business with them in the future.
The flyer design belongs to Aries band and background artwork belongs to me.
Thanks for looking
